International Mindedness & Learner Profiles YOUMEEVERYONE

INTERNATIONAL MINDEDNESS This is the new Microsoft logo. I will use this logo to demonstrate International Mindedness.

INTERNATIONAL MINDEDNESS For a period of time, the world was viewed as simply as this. Each continent generally believed to be with like minded people who followed the same culture, traditions, beliefs and customs, within their own continent. AmericasEurope AfricaAsia

INTERNATIONAL MINDEDNESS However, in reality, the real world is not like this due to various factors including migration, transportation and especially today, the internet. AmericasEurope AfricaAsia

INTERNATIONAL MINDEDNESS So how does this spectrum represent International Mindedness?

INTERNATIONAL MINDEDNESS

So, if our world is really this… And not this… How can we then prevent…

INTERNATIONAL MINDEDNESS THIS?

INTERNATIONAL MINDEDNESS THIS?

INTERNATIONAL MINDEDNESS THIS?

INTERNATIONAL MINDEDNESS THIS?

INTERNATIONAL MINDEDNESS And instead, live more like this?

INTERNATIONAL MINDEDNESS Through understanding that people of different backgrounds have different views, and we should examine why they have them. Its about having empathy and not just knowledge of other people. This is what leads to understanding and respecting another point of view, without necessarily accepting it: KNOWING WHERE IT CAME FROM

WHAT IS YOUR BIGGEST CHALLENGE? INTERNATIONAL MINDEDNESS

The manipulation, misrepresentation, and misinterpretation of a nation, culture and religion might be the greatest intellectual and moral challenges students face as adults Julian Edwards Secondary Principal of New International School of Thailand INTERNATIONAL MINDEDNESS

So how do we overcome the challenge? International Mindedness does not just happen It is nurtured, developed and grows from within. INTERNATIONAL MINDEDNESS So how do we nurture and develop our International Mindedness so that it grows?

Learner Profiles Learner Profiles are approaches to leading a good life, not just habits. Julian Edwards

Conclusion We live in a global village, with people from different backgrounds, cultures and beliefs. We need to rationalise what is true about the present, and mind in the sense of care enough for the future to dream up plausible alternatives and enact them. Through our understanding of the Learner Profiles, can we truly understand and appreciate others, to become Internationally Minded people.
