Candidate Communications: Stump Speech-Six Fail Safe Steps Contact: Jeff Lucas

Getting Started: Six Fail Safe Steps to Develop a Message and Stump Speech

Why are you running? Why are you speaking? Because… Step 1

There s a problem, who has it? In the community In the district In the state Make it anecdotal Step 2

What is your experience? Personal or professional experience or skill set that qualifies you to address the specific problem (s)? Dont list your resume. Show the voter that you truly understand the communitys needs. Make it anecdotal. Why? People always remember a story. Step 3

Contact: Progressive Majority

Creative Solution. Give the voter HOPE. For instance, where are we spending money foolishly that could be put to better use on the problem(s)? Try starting with this sentence, We could be… Why arent we? Step 4

What is standing in your way? What type of opponent (s) are you facing? Opponents can be a way of thought or a person, etc…Characterize your opponent. Step 5

Close the deal. What do you want? Vote Money Leading to an emotional investment in the value of your candidacy. Thats my guy/gal. Step 6

WE DO NOT Veer off the subject listed on the agenda Address their message, but you can correct misinformation Remember:

Be respectful Act with professional passion Deliver our message Stay on the subject-say lets go back to the subject at hand Talk to the audience Put your mic below your chin Spray glasses with non-glare stuff Look and speak to the camera Wear more solid colors WE DO:
