How to be a Teenaged “Mom” Claire Gambrell English 110 Professor Jean Schwind Home Home Background Description Objective Method Steps: What I learnedBackgroundDescriptionObjectiveMethodSteps:1234What I learned

Background I was born and raised in Atlanta, GA, 4 miles from the Turner Broadcast System (TBS) headquarters. This proximity to the communications world has led me to become a communications major, creative writing minor. With my passion for writing I took this assignment on with myself in mind. I have an undesirable quality of acting like a mom. From this state of mind the subject of How to be a Teenaged “Mom” became my paper topic. How to be a Teenaged “Mom” The main purpose of this project was to examine my motherly tendencies. I wanted to understand why I act the way that I act toward my friends, and for once, make fun of my ridiculous ways. “How to be a Teenaged ‘Mom’” is inspired by the treatment toward my friends from me. I seem to be prepared for almost any situation. If it’s a Band-aid, a tissue, water, gum, snacks, or anything, I just whip out my large purse and pull out whatever someone needs. I wanted to write down the most specific and necessary steps to act like a mom. This project embodies those important steps. Objective My project of How to be a Teenaged “Mom” best embodies the following objective of the English 110 course: A more sophisticated writing process – including invention, peer responding, revising, and editing – that results in a clear, effective, well edited public piece. The reason being a true experience of working within myself and expressing my passion for writing to others. Myself and peers revised this piece until its final edition. Editing transformed my mess of work into a well put- together, concise, and well written paper. I feel that this paper was produced with a more sophisticated writing style because of the dedication I, and the peer editors, put toward a great final piece. Method Completing this paper of “A guide to living in the 21 st century” I thought about a topic that I could explain fully to my audience. I have very motherly tendencies; therefore, I know a lot about the proper way to act like a mom (without giving birth). After deciding on a topic I created a rough draft of steps only. Then once I had the steps down, I expanded on each, while in the process poking fun at my ridiculous ways. As always, I had my paper read over many times before I had the finished product. There were four different drafts that led up to “How to be a Teenaged ‘Mom.’” Once the paper was finished, I converted it to an online blog using Wetpaint, presenting it with pictures and color, along with a sound bite from “Mean Girls.” Click Here to see the Blog.Click Here to see the Blog In the beginning of writing my paper I had a tough time making fun of myself, and laughing at my motherly ways. What I thought was funny was not funny to my audience; therefore, I had to adjust my style of humor to match that of my audience for an effective piece of writing. Completing this project made me realize that it is okay to poke fun at myself. I had trouble excepting the more ridiculous side of me before I came to Elon. After arriving here, making friends, and going to class I realized my true potential and stopped hiding my true nature. I am a mom, metaphorically. I love taking care and helping my friends in their time of need. Something is branded in my head to make me care for others. In writing this paper, and producing this project, I realized that writing does take time. The first draft will not always be the greatest, and that a piece can always be improved. I also discovered that as a writer, you might love the piece you are working on, but not everyone will. As a writer, I must know this information. This rule applies in real life as well. No matter how hard one tries, everyone cannot be pleased. Home Home Background Description Objective Method Steps: What I learnedBackgroundDescriptionObjectiveMethodSteps:1234What I learned
