Byte- represents one unit of data. How much information a computers memory can store is measured in bytes. 1 key press = 1 Byte memory.

The Byte is also used to show how much information can be stored on a storage device. Floppy Disk = 1.4 Megabytes (Equals about 4,600 single spaced, type written pages) CD Rom = 700 Megabytes Flash Drive = 2000 Megabytes or 2 Gigabytes Hard Drive 1TB Gigabytes = 1, ,000,000 Bytes

The most important program on a computer. A large program made up of many smaller programs that control how the CPU or tower communicates with other hardware components. It also makes computers easier to operate by people who don't understand programming languages. In other words, operating systems make computers user friendly. (
