Black remains a very popular background color. Its former relationship to mourning, death and mystery has been taken over with the connotation that it is urban, sophisticated and most importantly, an attitude. Black, and other very dark background color heuristics, serves as a platform for textually driven sites. White, for descriptive text, is a normal design technique for ease of reading against a dark background and it is again reminiscent of contemporary deigning trends. Whether we view the web as a vehicle for information or simply conveying an experience, it has become a part of our emotional response that challenges traditional constraints and is creating a culture shaped by technology.
