Reporting an Emergency 9-1-1

What to say if you have to call to get help if you have an emergency and need help right away What We Will Learn Today

We have already learned that: An emergency is when something is dangerous and you need help right away –accident –fall –fire You should only call if you have a real emergency

We also learned that: We should learn to use every phone in our house

Some of our phones might have a dial that looks like this

And some of our phones might have a dial that looks like this

What should you do if you have an emergency? Call –Not or 911 there is no eleven on the telephone dial

When someone answers, tell them: Your name My name is Johnny or Susie Smith There is a fire in my house My address is 101 Smith Road I am calling on a cell phone from my meeting place at the mailbox OR I am calling from the neighbor’s house Where your emergency is What your emergency is Where you are calling from Remember to be calm - don’t be afraid Remember to speak slowly and clearly so the operator understands everything you say - then listen for the operator’s instructions

When should you call Report an accident Report a fire –always get out first and call from a neighbor’s house or a cell phone Report a serious injury If you are in danger

Remember - You should call ONLY if you have an EMERGENCY and need HELP!
