First CoRoT International Symposium – Paris – France

February 4th 2009 EXO PSFs - First CoRoT International Symposium - Paris - Fabio Fialho2 Correction Surface Jitter Jitter Photometric Corrections Jitter Photometric Corrections are implemented using the following equationMotivation PSF-based method We need a super-resolved PSF!!!!

February 4th 2009 EXO PSFs - First CoRoT International Symposium - Paris - Fabio Fialho3 How a blurred image is built

February 4th 2009 EXO PSFs - First CoRoT International Symposium - Paris - Fabio Fialho4 PSF Algorithm We write the: probability density functionp probability density function p jitter-dependent kernelM jitter-dependent kernel M noise-dependent covariance matrixQ noise-dependent covariance matrix - Q We state and solve the optimization problem (recursive gradient method)

February 4th 2009 EXO PSFs - First CoRoT International Symposium - Paris - Fabio Fialho5 Validation – Finding CoRoT-Exo-2b White flux before correction Blue flux before correction White flux after correction Blue flux after correction Input 1-pixel images Estimate ½ pixel PSF

February 4th 2009 EXO PSFs - First CoRoT International Symposium - Paris - Fabio Fialho6 Conclusions Improved robustness compared to the Asteroseismology channel’s algorithm, allowing its use in the Planet Finder channel. The modeled PSF provides about 8-times gain of SNR for the white photometry (periods of the worst case of jitter noise). Robustness improvement Planets detectability threshold increasement
