REVIEW from The YELLOW Cross Look at the YELLOW face. Match the YELLOW face with: The single YELLOW center piece and follow the algorithm: The YELLOW right angle corner and follow the algorithm: The single YELLOW line down the middle row of the YELLOW face and follow the algorithm: REVIEW from The YELLOW Cross To get the YELLOW face: Review from Previous Lesson Lesson Vocab Lesson Focus Review from this Lesson Lesson Extension Rubik’s Q

Review from this Lesson Make sure the YELLOW Face is the UP Face. Just like with the YELLOW cross, we are going to look for matching images to help us get to the next step. We will focus on the LEFT/FRONT/UP Face corner piece. Lesson Focus Review from Previous Lesson Lesson Vocab Lesson Focus Review from this Lesson Lesson Extension Rubik’s Q

Review from this Lesson Position the YELLOW cross so that it matches one of the following: The LEFT corner closest to you has a YELLOW piece on the LEFT Face. The LEFT corner closest to you has a YELLOW piece on the UP Face. The LEFT corner closest to you has a YELLOW piece on the FRONT Face. Lesson Focus All images of the cube, are showing the YELLOW face as the UP face Review from Previous Lesson Lesson Vocab Lesson Focus Review from this Lesson Lesson Extension Rubik’s Q

Review from this Lesson Use the algorithm to move the YELLOW LEFT/FRONT/UP corner to its correct position: Lesson Focus Review from Previous Lesson Lesson Vocab Lesson Focus Review from this Lesson Lesson Extension Rubik’s Q

Review from this Lesson Do you have four (4) YELLOW UP face corners? If no, then reposition your YELLOW cross so that it matches one of the images below: Position the YELLOW cross so that it matches one of the following: The LEFT corner closest to you has a YELLOW piece on the LEFT Face.

Review from this Lesson If you are unsure about the image on your cube, or if your cube doesn’t match one of the three options exactly, you might need to rotate (or turn without twisting any rows) your cube so the LEFT, UP, or FRONT face has a YELLOW piece. Troubleshooting Review from Previous Lesson Lesson Vocab Lesson Focus Review from this Lesson Lesson Extension Rubik’s Q

Does your Rubik’s Cube look like this? Examine your Rubik’s Cube. GOAL: The YELLOW FACE The goal of this stage is to get the YELLOW face on the UP. Does your Rubik’s Cube look like this? Review from Previous Lesson Lesson Vocab Lesson Focus Review from this Lesson Lesson Extension Rubik’s Q

You have achieved The YELLOW Face Congratulations! Congratulations! Congratulations! Congratulations! Congratulations! Congratulations! You have achieved The YELLOW Face Review from Previous Lesson Lesson Vocab Lesson Focus Review from this Lesson Lesson Extension Rubik’s Q

REVIEW from the YELLOW Face Position the YELLOW cross so that it matches one of the following: The LEFT corner closest to you (LEFT/FRONT/UP) has a YELLOW piece on the LEFT face The LEFT corner closest to you (LEFT/FRONT/UP) has a YELLOW piece on the UP face. The LEFT corner closest to you (LEFT/FRONT/UP) has a YELLOW piece on the FRONT face. Use the algorithm: Reposition and use the same algorithm until all UP face corners are YELLOW. REVIEW from the YELLOW Face To get the YELLOW Face: The White Cross The White Corners The Middle Layer The Yellow Cross The Yellow Face The Yellow Corners The Yellow Edges

Review from this Lesson Matching the images on the YELLOW Face are the beginning steps to learning about translation, rotation, and reflection. Translation is when the image slides to a new place but doesn’t change. You can try this by placing your cube, with the any Face UP, on your desk. Slide the cube to the RIGHT, LEFT, FRONT, BACK, and DIAGONAL. It doesn’t matter which way you slide the cube, the image on the faces do not change, only the location of the cube changes. Lesson Extension How does this lesson apply to math? Review from Previous Lesson Lesson Vocab Lesson Focus Review from this Lesson Lesson Extension Rubik’s Q

Review from this Lesson Reflection is when the image of one side looks the opposite on the other, like looking in a mirror Try to find another student whose cube is a mirror image of your own. Draw a mirror image of your cube on a piece of paper. Lesson Extension How does this lesson apply to math? Review from Previous Lesson Lesson Vocab Lesson Focus Review from this Lesson Lesson Extension Rubik’s Q

Review from this Lesson Rotation is when the cube or Face twists around while keeping one corner in the same place. You can try this by placing your cube, with any Face UP, on a piece of paper. Choose a corner and mark the spot on the paper with a dot. Keep the corner of the cube on the dot, but “rotate” the rest of the cube around the dot. Rotations are measured by degrees. A full rotation around the dot, back to the original position, would be 360 degrees. Lesson Extension How does this lesson apply to math?
