Current Status and Next Steps Eight countries have adapted or are planning to adapt the tools: Mozambique, Cambodia, Ghana, Kenya, Zambia, Botswana, Ethiopia, Cote D’Ivoire Available languages: English (generic), Portuguese (adapted for Mozambique), Khmer (adapted for Cambodia) French (planned as a generic version) Testing and Counselling for PMTCT Support Tools Training Exchange November 10, 2006

Next Steps Evaluate impact of Support Tools on uptake of TC in L&D and immediate PD settings The objectives are to: Determine the percentage of women with unknown HIV status in L&D and PD wards that can be reached with TC and PMTCT interventions Describe barriers to implementing TC in LD settings Determine if the introduction of the Support tools will improve HIV testing uptake and the quality of the counseling sessions Support broader dissemination & implementation of the Support tools Testing and Counselling for PMTCT Support Tools Training Exchange November 10, 2006
