What if……… n While walking through the facility, a student stops and asks you how your family is doing?

What if……. n You are walking in the hall and a student stops you to tell you how nice you look, and that he especially likes how your hair is braided….

What if…….. n A student approaches you after class and tells you he has something very important to tell you and you are the only one he trusts. He asks you NOT to tell his…parent/probation officer/deputy…

What if….. n A student in your class presents you with a work of art she has made. She tells you it’s a gift for all you have done for her…..

What if…... n You are presenting material during class when one of the students becomes verbally disruptive and refuses your request to calm down…..?

What if……. n A student approaches you and tells you that drugs are being sold during the lunch break?

What if….. n A student breaks a classroom rule right in front of you, and in front of the other students…..?

What if….. n A local volunteer donates a large box of used clothing and asks you to take it into your facility to make a professional “clothes closet” for students?

What if…... n A student tells you that you are the best staff member in the facility and states that he wishes his parole agent/ counselor/deputy wasn’t such a if another teacher tells you this??

What if….. n A student gives you a poem he has written that is sexually suggestive or makes you uncomfortable?

What if…….. n You notice a student nodding off in class, or reeking of alcohol?

What if……. n A parole agent/probation counselor/deputy asks you to take a urine sample/write someone up/perform a “custody” responsibility for a student during the class break?

What if….. n A parole agent tells you to excuse a student for work each day at 12:30?/Let a student out early/other examples? n …or asks you to allow their student to come to class late?

What if…. n A former STAR graduate/student drops by to speak to the class and you smell alcohol on their breath?

What if... n A student brings you a really cool new version of “STAR Floors 2000-Jabba’s revenge” and asks you to install it on your computer?

What if… n A student asks you to drop him off at a bus stop on your way home?

What if... n You run into a student at a 12 step meeting and they ask you to be their sponsor?

What if... n A student asks you if they can use the classroom phone to make phone calls during the Independent Study hour?
