Follow Up and Support AACN Clinical Nurse Leader Implementation Conference June 16 & 17, 2004

AACN – Our Work  Routine and frequent updates from the CNL Implementation Task Force (ITF)  Quarterly surveys to each partnership – 1-2 questions from the ITF and AACN staff regarding progress to date and issues that must be addressed  List serve for exchange of information on best practices, progress, questions, and calls for additional support

AACN – Our Work (cont.)  Recommendations regarding a uniform set of evaluation parameters that can be used for short-term, local evaluation  Long-term planning for a large scale evaluation post implementation of the CNL practice sites  Follow-up meetings, regionally based.  Regional partnership meetings - Focus of first regional meeting will be a design workshop for design of the practice model.

 Working paper on design of the practice environment and transformation of the practice.  Statement on differentiation of the CNL and CNS roles – work in process with several individuals to produce this document.  Statement on model expectations for practice site preceptors and faculty mentors

 Frequent updates on progress to date across the partnerships and how various issues are being addressed.  Reference lists, best practice resources, and web sites for practice and curriculum work  AACN will work with Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education regarding progress

 Reports on collaborative work with other organizations, e.g. NCSBN, ANCC, AONE, groups representing advanced practice, other disciplines, and consulting groups.  Progress reports on certification examination development.

 Template on press releases for use at the local level to give local news and policy makers information about this transformational work  Timeline for CNL ITF work  Follow-up summit in months to bring all demonstration projects together for reporting, best practice sharing, and networking

What we need from Education/Practice Partnership Projects  Commitment to fundamental redesign of the practice environment and the educational experience – this is not incremental change.  Response to surveys to be circulated every 3mos – SHORT - on progress to date.

 Type of information to be gathered: Steering committee composition and progress, members from education and practice, and how work is progressing on practice transformation and curricular revisions. Challenges you are encountering on in the above work

 Partners you are working with – other local and regional connections that have been established.  Recruitment plans for the program and marketing to students, clinicians, and faculty.  Timeline for progress at your site  Attendance at regional meetings

 Following this meeting, we will send a letter to all partners identifying next steps and expectations for leadership involvement.
