Presentation transcript:

This is the online version of the game of craps. It is a type of simulation game. It’s as though you’re playing on the real table. Craps is played in most casinos. The game in the casinos are surrounded by many players all betting separately on what they think the dice will show. In this online version there is only one player. The player does not bet real money. It’s more of a fun game someone can play and can be a great learning device for the real game in the casinos. There are many probabilities and options on what to bet on. It takes some time to learn. Ryan Walton | Structure Analysis of Game | r441 |

How to play Craps Craps like mentioned before is a very complex game involving many different probabilities and strategies. We’ll cover a quicker and simpler instruction of it to lay down the basics. First you make a bet. You can place your bets on a number or what’s called the ‘Pass Line’. 2,3, and 12 are called craps and if a person rolls this on the first try the game is over and you lose. If a person rolls a seven or eleven on the first roll you win. If none of those numbers come up on the first round then that’s when the game really begins. Whatever other number is rolled that first time becomes the hit number. If the dice come up as that number again you win. But if a seven is thrown after the first dice have been thrown then the game is over and everyone loses. While all this is going on you may place bets on many different things around the table dealing with odds and such and win that way also. That’s a little more confusing to explain.

Game Description / Explanation The point of the game is trying to configure odds and placing chips in the spots that the player hopes the dice display. In other words the player is betting or gambling. This is a picture of what the table looks like. The table is divided into many sections. Some sections display numbers, some sections display text, and some sections display what a playing card could look like. This could be very confusing to someone who has never seen it before. The player can place a certain amount of chips in any of the sections. That amount is up to the player. Each chip is worth a certain amount of credit or if you were in a real casino – cash. This game gives the player a certain amount of chips to start off with and each chip is worth a certain amount of credit. Below illustrates the amount of credit each chip is worth. Those chips correlate by colors what the player possesses in front of them. A player places their chips on one or more of the sections of the virtual table. After they do this they need to click on the “ROLL” button (in red) on the bottom right of the display above where the white arrow is pointing. When the player pushes the button a pair of dice will fly out and display a combined number. Play continues that way until the game is over by rolling the hit number or a seven.

Scene Graphics / Controls There maybe are a lot of confusing sections on the table for someone who has never seen a craps table. But the controls and navigation through the game are quite easy. To place a chip on the table the player must select one from the rows of chips above. To do this the player must drag the mouse until the arrow is shown above one of the stacks of chips. As mentioned earlier each row is worth a certain amount depending on its color. Once the arrow is on top of one of the rows the player can increase the bet amount or decrease it. To increase the amount the player pushes the left button on their mouse. To decrease by that amount the player must push the right button on their mouse. After that is done the display above will show how much the player has in their hand. By looking at the display above the player has 10 in their hand. Once the player determines the amount to bet they need to drag the mouse until the arrow is above where they want to put the chips and then click the left button on the mouse. If the player wants to put their chips on six, they drag their mouse until the arrow is on top of the six and click the left button on the mouse. Balance = Chips in stacks + chips in hand + chips on table Chips = The amount that adds up for the chips in the players rack (enlarged to the left.) In Hand = the amount the player has increased or decreased following the directions below. Total Bet = the amount that the chips add up to on the table (since there are no chips on the table = 0).

Scene This is the beginning of the screen shots. There are no chips on the table so the chart in the upper left reads 0 for Total Bets. It says I have 5 In Hand because that’s the minimum the game uses. This is the second shot. I left clicked on the chips representing an amount of 5 three times to bring my In Hand to 20. I then left clicked on the “six” in the table and a stack of chips representing 20 appeared above “six”. My Total Bets went from zero to twenty.

Scene cont. In this third scene I moved the cursor so it was above the big red circle next to where it says “ROLL” and left clicked the mouse. A pair of dice rolled out and added up to five. Since I had no chips on five nothing happened. For the last scene, since I rolled a five before, a green marker shows up above the “5”. I then decide to bet 20 more on number “5”. It still shows that I have an In Hand of 20 so I simply left click above the “5” and chips appear there. I rolled the dice again and it added up to four. Therefore nothing happens.
