NCAA Division I Institutional Performance Program Session Overview  NCAA Division I Institutional Performance Program (IPP) Data Management System.  IPP Education Plan.  Best Practices for the Annual Review of Data.  What is Next for IPP?

Purpose of the Institutional Performance Program The purpose of the Institutional Performance Program is to guide and support our member institutions, as we model, manage and report vital and significant data. The data must be timely, accurate, accessible, stable and secure. This data is used to assist in the planning and decision- making for Division I institutions. The program will enhance the effectiveness and efficiency of the intercollegiate athletics program to promote the safety, health and well-being of student athletes.

Principles of the Institutional Performance Program Principles of IPP:  Vision.  Integrity.  Collaboration.  Shared understanding.  Inclusion.

Institutional Performance Program IPP Data Management System Scenario:  A football team is subject to NCAA Division I Academic Performance Program (APP) penalties.  The athletics director needs to know why.  The institution needs to build a waiver case requesting relief from the APP penalties.  The athletics director asks the football sport administrator to lead a group of staff in completing these two tasks.

IPP Data Management System Scenario, cont.:  How would you use the IPP management tool?  What data indicators are available to analyze NCAA Division I Academic Progress Rate (APR)?  What “drill-downs” may assist with identifying the reason(s) for the team’s low APR?  Can the sport administrator create a peer group to assist with the APP penalty waiver case? Institutional Performance Program

IPP Data Management System  IPP may be used on a regular basis to:  Prepare for salary discussions with coaches.  Inform discussions on adding or dropping sports.  Tracking the academic profiles of incoming SAs.  Others? Institutional Performance Program

IPP Education Plan  How to use the data management system.  Regular, day-to-day use of IPP.  How to review and analyze data.  How to use IPP to inform decisions on campus.  Best practices for the annual review of data.  Who should be involved in the review? Institutional Performance Program

What Is Next for IPP?  Data management system.  Fall  Student-athlete experience data collection.  Inclusion review.  Rules compliance review. Institutional Performance Program
