29 th June – 2 nd July 2007

Friday 29 th June 2007 Depart from school at 8am Arrive at Manor Adventure late afternoon - a packed lunch will be required for the journey. You will be notified of our safe arrival via the phone chain. Evening Programme Unpack, dinner and then evening activities.

Essential Equipment!  Pillow  Sleeping Bag  Bin bags and labels

Valuables  Mobile phones, games systems and MP3 players ARE NOT allowed on the trip.  Items such as expensive cameras, jewellery and watches should be left at home. Disposable cameras are a good idea as they are not easily broken.

Sample Activities Climbing Abseiling Canoeing Orienteering Camp Skills Archery Assault Course Zip Wire Fencing Blind Trail Scavenger Hunt Shooting Raft Building Nature Walk

Groupings  Pupils will be put into 9 activity groups with one member of staff and an instructor from the centre.  Each group will participate in different activities on different days but all pupils will get the opportunity to try everything once.  Pupils will also be placed in groups according to bedrooms. We have tried our very best to put pupils together based upon the requests on the medical form. This information will be provided nearer to the time.

Accommodation  Children sleep in twin bunk rooms with their own bathrooms (which must be kept clean and tidy!)  Staff will be on duty every morning to ensure that everyone is awake and to complete room inspections.  Staff will also be on duty every evening to ensure “lights out”

Code of Conduct  Please ensure that the code of conduct has been read carefully and then signed.  Once signed, the form must be returned to a member of staff before departing tonight.

Medical Each teacher will have the medical forms for every member of their activity group. Please inform us if there are any changes that we need to know about. If your child needs medication, please place this in a clear plastic bag with their name on the front together with any essential information and hand it in to Mrs House or Miss Hipgrove (depending on the coach they are travelling in) before they get on the coach. This will be passed onto the appropriate member of staff once we are on our way.

Pocket Money  Please do not give your child large amounts of money. There will be limited opportunities to spend; there is a tuck shop which will be open at restricted times.  If you wish, we will look after your child’s pocket money. The money should be placed in a sealed envelope and clearly labelled with the pupils name and the amount enclosed.  This envelope should be handed in to Miss Kohl or Dr Goodyear (depending upon which coach they are to travel on) on Friday morning. It will be handed out at a specified time each evening if required.  Loose change (5, 10, 20, 50p) may be useful for the vending machines.  Staff can not be held responsible for any pupil’s money that is not handed in.

Equipment Hire  If you have already pre-booked boots and/or cagoule for your child, please collect a voucher from a member of staff tonight.  This must be handed in upon arrival at Manor Adventure and equipment will then be issued.

Phone Chain  The purpose of the phone chain is to let parents know that we have arrived safely at the Manor. We will also inform you if our return time is going to change drastically due to traffic for example.  There are 10 phone chains altogether. Every parent will be provided with a copy of their own chain. A member of staff will make a call to the parent at the top of each chain. It is then the responsibility of the parent at the top of the chain to start the ball rolling by calling the person next in line. There are 2 numbers that can be used. If there is no response from either, please call the next person after them to keep the chain going. Remember to try that person again so that everyone is kept informed.  Please could the last person in the chain call the first person so that they know that the chain was completed.

Emergencies  In case of a genuine emergency, please call Mr Harley who will then contact us at Manor Adventure (school hours) (school hours) (mobile number) (mobile number)
