Presentation transcript:

 Inform parents what the STAR parent report means for their children  Guide parents, students, and teachers to work together in using the STAR assessment data

 The STAR Assessment is administered in the fall, winter, and spring  There are three different types of STAR Assessments: o STAR Early Literacy o STAR Reading o STAR Math  Item bank of thousands of questions so no two classmates will be taking the same test  Assessments are not a “grade level” test, they are a “student level” test

 You will be able to monitor your child’s progress over time. Keep these reports.  These reports will provide guidance for discussion with your child’s teachers (e.g. parent/student/teacher conferences)  The reports provide tips for parents for student academic ideas at home.  The reports are a starting point for goal setting and growth.

 this resource can be used to find a book within your child’s interest level and recommended reading level  Once online, click on the “advanced search” tab, select your child’s interest level from the drop down menu, then type your child’s “ATOS Book Level” as the range provided on the STAR report next to “Zone of Proximal Development (ZPD).” From there, you are able to select additional criteria such as topics and subtopics, if you choose. You can also select how you would like the report to be sorted. When you click “go” a list of books will appear that fall within your child’s reading range.  Additionally, there is an option to select a collection of titles such as award winners or a state list.
