What is Volunteering and Why Should I do it? Volunteering can Include: Work in your department (StARs!) Roles on campus: Red T-shirts, Student Ambassadors, Global Guides etc. Helping out in the community Fundraising One-off events Working with charities and organisations Environmental and Green projects Mentoring and buddying schemes Helping those with disabilities Being a committee member for your club or society Many more – anybody doing something different? Benefits of Volunteering: Develop your skills and gain new ones Network within an organisation and gain valuable contacts It can help inform and boost career choices: 73% of employers said they’d employ somebody who has volunteered over someone who hasn’t. Make a positive difference to the lives of others Build your confidence Good for mental (and sometimes physical!) health A great way to connect and feel established in the city It’s good fun!
