Presentation transcript:

Collytown Therapy ponies We all know how great the Shetland pony is as a breed, but we've witnessed just how amazing they really are at a totally new level. Over the past 12 months we have been training a selected group of our ponies and are now using them to help others. Through our training program we have established such a unique bond with these ponies that they are completely trusting and what ever we ask they do without question, they will walk on a range of different surfaces, go up small flights of stairs or happily travel in lifts to access anyone that for what ever reason cannot leave their room. The reaction when a pony walks into a room & the difference they can make is nothing short of magical. The ponies can be teamed with Occupational, Speech or Physical Therapists to set specific programs or goals to work to, this can be as simple as inspiring a patient to reach out an arm or to walk beside them using new equipment. The ponies go into Care/Nursing Homes, Hospitals, Schools, Pre-schools and Nurseries, working with a wide range of children & adults. We also welcome groups or individuals to our approved facilities where we run both ground and ridden therapy sessions with our bigger ponies. We were extremely lucky to be fully supported by our local community who allowed us to use there businesses to train the ponies, and feel very fortunate to be able to now bring this wonderful service to people who need it most.
