I will include the direct meaning of the words, along with the translation so that you understand exactly what you are saying. “Meaning” and “translation” are a little different. Think about how many different translations there are of the Bible in English?

¿Cómo te llamas? A Notar Translation: What’s your name? Means: How do you call yourself? Translation: What’s your name? A Notar People also use: ¿Cuál es tu nombre? Means: Which is your name? This will not be used in this class. However, you will hear this, so I wanted to introduce it to you.

Me llamo Juan. Mi nombre es Juan. Means: I call myself Juan. translation: My name is Juan Mi nombre es Juan. My name is Juan This will also not be used in this class. However, you will hear this, so I wanted to introduce it to you too.

¿Cómo se llama el chico/la chica? Means: How does the boy/girl call themselves? Translation: What’s his/her name? El chico se llama Alejandro. Means: He calls himself Alejandro. His name is Alejandro. La chica se llama Carmen. Means: She calls herself Carmen. Translation: Her name is Carmen.

Translation: Nice to meet you. Encantado(a) Translation: Nice to meet you. Mucho gusto Means: Much pleasure.

Means: The pleasure is mine. Es un placer. Means: It’s a pleasure. El gusto es mío. Means: The pleasure is mine.

Translation: Likewise/Same to you Igualmente. Meaning: Equally. Translation: Likewise/Same to you
