Course Description Principles of Economics-Macro Scope and Methodology of Economics as a social science, the measurement of national income, the theory of national income determination, money and banking, monetary and fiscal policy, and international economics.

Course Policies Academic Integrity HAVE SOME. Don’t cheat, and don’t be complicit in cheating. Bad things happen when you compromise your integrity, academic or otherwise. See university policy.

Course Policies Attendance The most successful students attend, arrive on time and stay the entire class period. Please show some respect if arriving late. I don’t take attendance, so I don’t need (or want) to hear about doctor notes and court dates. If you miss class, DO NOT ask me what you missed. Ask your classmates.

Course Policies Attendance No make-ups for ANY reason. Really. The classroom is the primary source of information. I am under no obligation to email or post information that is announced and discussed in class. And I probably won’t.

Course Policies TESTS There are four regular semester tests and one final exam. The course grade will include your highest FOUR test/exam grades. If you are happy with your grade at the end of four tests, you do not need to take the final exam (#5). If you choose to take the final exam it will replace the lowest score from tests1-4. The optional final exam will replace a MISSED test.

Course Policies HOMEWORK Chapter-specific graded homework quizzes will be on Blackboard (or Moodle). Count as 10% of your final grade. Quizzes for each chapter are due the evening before the test for that chapter. There are 100 total questions.

Final Grade = .90(Test Points/4) + .10(HW score) Course Policies Calculating the grade: Grades will be calculated as follows: (Tests 90%, Homework 10%)  Final Grade = .90(Test Points/4) + .10(HW score)  EXAMPLE: Assume your grades on tests 1-4 are 80, 77, 74 and 84, and you have earned 95 out of a possible 100 homework points.   Final Grade = .90[(80+77+74+84)/4) + .10(95) = .90(78.75) + .10(95) = 80.4, B

Final Exam (Optional), 11:00am – 1:30pm Important Dates Test Schedule: Dates are firm. Chapters will be updated if we get behind. Test Dates Fri, February 5 Test 1 Wed, March 3 Test 2 Wed, April 7 Test 3 Fri, April 30 Test 4 Wed, May 12 Final Exam (Optional), 11:00am – 1:30pm
