Old Regime In France France has a Feudal system of govt.- The king grants control of some land to a noble The noble must be loyal to the king They must protect the people on the land “I will give you some land…. “Yes, my king!” But you must be loyal to me.”

Three Estates in France The Estates = 3 groups of people 1 st Estate = the Clergy (the church) 2 nd Estate = the nobles (rich guys / hereditary) 3 rd Estate = “commoners” (divided into 3 groups)
