It tells me that there was overcrowding (w) There is a shortage of homes (s) People lived in poor conditions (s) That the British had to resolve housing shortage (s) (All must give evidence and support)

They differ in the their account of the British victory over the Japanese. In Source B is shows that British would win while in Source C it shows that the British were defeated by the Japanese (s) (Give evidence /support)

They differ in their account of the Japanese might. In Source B, it states the Japanese as the weaker power while in Source C it shows the Japanese as a strong force (s)

Both sources differ in their purpose. In Source B, the purpose is to assure the people that the Japanese would be defeated so that the people would not be alarmed. In the source it states that with ‘the United States on ours, ample naval forces will be available to stop Japan’s control in the Pacific’. This implies that they have the right strategy to stop the Japanese.

The purpose is to explain to the listeners on the reasons for the British defeat so that they have a clear picture of the what happened during World War II. In the source it states that they never thought the British would be defeated because of their superior weapons. ‘But in matter of weeks, the Japanese just wiped them out’. This implies that the Japanese were too strong for the British.
