The Mexican port system has 16 active commercial ports: 9 Ports on the Pacific, among them Manzanillo and Lázaro Cárdenas as main Ports. 7 Ports on the Gulf & Caribbean, among them Veracruz and Altamira as main Ports. 2 2 Mexican Port System: More than 11,000 kilometers of coastline. GMD Background 3 3 For over 60 years, Grupo Mexicano de Desarollo S.A.B. (GMD) has taken part in the infrastructure sector engineering and operating large scale transportation projects, communication systems and public services. GMD has gone trough a dynamic transformation from its roots as a construction company to a highly competitive business group that holds a diverse portfolio of selective, long term concessions contracts. GMD since the 70´s has been active in the Port construction as it took part on the strategic planning and construction of the two most industrial ports in Mexico: Lázaro Cardenas and Altamira. Since the Mexican Port privatization in 1995, GMD Energía y Puertos had participated on five Port tenders and has been granted with four Port Terminal concessions for its construction and operation.

Projects in Operation Carbonser Provides unloading, storage and transfer services to a 2.1 GWatt coal power station. 9 9 Private Bulk Coal Terminal Carbonser GMD 50% - Techint 50% Private Bulk Coal Terminal Carbonser GMD 50% - Techint 50% Total investment: USD $300 million. Total annual capacity: 6 million tons. Has received more than 325 vessels mainly Cape Size. National record-holder for unloading a bulk vessels with more than 143,000 tons of cargo. The Terminal has had in the 10 years of operation over 99% availability.

Inland Terminals Opportunities GMD has interest to develop new business opportunities on Inland Intermodal Terminals. 11 GMD and local State Governments has spotted strategic location for medium range Terminals that will support industrial activity in the region. Project planning for new Terminals around Mexico City, Puebla and Tlaxcala as well as northeast of the country are being under economic feasibility analysis for future development.

GMD Port and Energy Strengths GMD P&E is leading mineral bulk Terminal Operator in Mexico and Port Infrastructure projects. 12 Experience in port engineering, construction as well as in terminal operations and transport infrastructure. Legal and technical expertise on API’s public bidding process. Strong relations with Federal Ministry of Transport and Port Administrations (API’s). Strategic alliances with International Partners for long term projects. GMD E&P staff has more than 25 years of experience in transport planning, engineering and construction, as well as terminal operations management.
