An Innovation Configuration map: Clarifies what a new program is or isn’t; Defines quality clearly—what it looks like in use; Indicates the degree to which the innovation is being implemented; Informs support providers about how to best assist and support educators’ successful use of new practices; Provides a blueprint for learning, planning, and resources required for implementation; Determines significant actions that ensure successful implementation of the innovation to increase student achievement; and Provides, in the case of this IC map, a consistent guide for district leaders to begin and sustain efforts to implement the standards. 7

 Phase 1 Next-Generation Learners  Phase 2 Next-Generation Instructional Programs Support (Program Reviews) The recent first release of data from the Unbridled Learning model included only the Next-Generation Learners component (Achievement [Proficiency], Gap, Growth, Readiness for College/Career and Graduation Rate). Schools have already received their Next- Generation Learner Overall Scores as targets for Proficient. In the fall of 2013, the second round of data from the model will be released, and that data will include both Next-Generation Learners and Next-Generation Instructional Programs and Support (Program Reviews). Unbridled Learning Accountability Model

The Program Review scores will have two roles in the summer of 2013: 1.Schools will see a publicly-reported Program Review classification (Needs Improvement, Proficient, Distinguished) for each subject (AH/PLCS/Writing). 2.Scores will provide a baseline for the combined accountability model that includes Next-Generation Learner and Next-Generation Instructional Programs and Support (Program Reviews) and the Overall Score as the target for Proficient in Program Reviews in Accountability

 The ASSIST system is open and ready for use.  A Technical Guide for Completing and Submitting Program Review Reports for Kentucky Schools and Districts is posted to the PR webpage.  Data for Program Reviews MUST be entered in ASSIST by June 1,  During the school year , schools and districts should be working to improve baseline data. This gives schools an opportunity to make modifications in program areas that need improvement. ASSIST

Overall, they are satisfied with the teaching and learning conditions in their school.  School-level student performance-the construct most strongly connected to student performance is Community Support and Involvement, followed by Managing Student Conduct.  Teacher retention-School Leadership and Community Support and Involvement are critical influences on teachers’ future employment plans.  New teachers-Many beginning teachers are reporting that supports are in place to help them adjust to their new work environment and enable them to do their best work.  Principals-Principals are positive about district supports and are more positive than teachers about whether conditions are in place across schools. 18 Highlights from the 2011 TELL Kentucky Survey Results

End-of-Course Standards in CIITS ACT QualityCore Course standards for English II, Algebra II, Biology and U.S. History are now available in CIITS. These standards can be used when creating assessment items and/or instructional materials. To locate these standards, select “ACT QualityCore Course Standards.” Plans call for the ACT Quality Core items to be available in CIITS sometime in April. 20 CIITS Update

Benchmark Test Report in CIITS The Benchmark Tests tab displays student Benchmark Tests results. Results are displayed by subject for a selected school year and provide a variety of test categories. Summary information includes the Test Date, Test Score and Score Group for each test. Additional test details may be viewed simply by clicking on the test name. 21 CIITS Update

24 CIITS District Highlight Marion County Public Schools As the school year opened they did training for all their elementary schools on an Introduction to CIITS. CIITS scavenger hunt, created by a Principal, was used with all elementary teachers in this initial training. CIITS initial rollout was focused on doing standards based lesson plans (700+ created district-wide) CIITTS "trainers" (early adopters) from elementary schools were paid and used to train HS teachers in February. These trainers emerged as early adopters and teachers passionate about CIITS rather than being selected as building level coaches. One Elementary focused on creating lesson plans and another focused on creating assessments (500+ assessments created district- wide). Elementary teachers will be doing unit design for Summer work. They love PD360! They are excited about the CIITS EDS module and will quickly begin using it when it becomes available.

 On February 1, 2013, 704 KAR 7:160 Use of Physical Restraint and Seclusion in Public Schools became final.  Implementation begins school year. Districts should strive to revise their local policies and procedures within 90 days of the effective date but no later than July 1,  The KDE Guidance Document is now available to assist districts with implementation of the regulation.  The KDE, in partnership with the Kentucky Educational Television (KET), is developing content for the web-based option for the training required of all school personnel, pursuant to Section 6 of the regulation.  Training will focus on positive behavioral supports and interventions to increase appropriate student behaviors, decrease inappropriate or dangerous student behaviors, and respond to dangerous behavior.  The web-based option for the required trainings will be available to districts prior to the start of the school year. 30 Use of Physical Restraint and Seclusion in Public Schools (704 KAR 7:160)
