A tool teachers use to grade an essay A rubric: Makes grading easier because the teacher knows exactly what to look for Makes grading quicker because it keeps the teacher on track It is fair and accurate since points are added to come up with a percentage.

A list of traits good writing should include You receive points for each item you include. You get more points for items that are considered more important. Points are deducted from a set of points for mistakes. You need to know what everything on the rubric means before you write.

A tool students use to remind them what to include in an essay Youll use this one on the Target Test. (You need to memorize it before the Benchmark.) Think of it like a checklist to make sure you include everything. You should be able to add up the points and have a very good idea of what your grade is before you turn in your essay.

A tool teachers and students can use together to discuss what the student did well and what the student can do to improve a score A student can examine the rubric and see at a glance where the points earned are the same as the points possible. A student can also see where points were missed because the student left out an item or made a mistake. Together, the teacher and student can use the rubric to discuss how the student can earn more points next time.

An Essay Rubric is a tool that will help you write better and will help you improve your grades. An Essay Rubric is a tool that you can easily use to help you improve your Target Test score as well as your Benchmark score. Hoxie High School is using a version of this rubric in every grade 7-12, so you will see it and use it next year, and the next year, and the next year, and the next. A builder without a hammer is not a very good builder. Dont let this tool go unused. A writer who doesnt use writing tools, is not a very good writer.
