HISTORY  Worked in and around watershed for more than three decades  Have made flow measurements during and following major events

1944 CONDITIONS

2014 CONDITIONS

BACKGROUND  Generally flows are from the northeast to southwest  Low flows occur from the commonly accepted watershed  The larger the rainfall event/season, the more water that will enter from the Corkscrew Watershed from the east

BACKGROUND  Basin Management Action Plan for Nitrogen TMDL on freshwater portion of river  Watershed is from BUS 41/SR 739 to SR 82  Overall Nitrogen reduction is 23%  Reduction is planned over three five-year periods  City of Bonita Springs’ reduction is 3,301#/year (2,058#/year of credit and 1,243#/year supplement)

 SFWMD Permits – Mine – Citrus Park – Liberty Youth Ranch  298 District Boundary  Watershed Boundary (Halfway Creek/Imperial River) BACKGROUND

DISCUSSION  Density  Intensity

FLOW REGIMES  Existing developments have three major types of discharge: – None – Gravity – Pump  Today SFWMD prefers gravity and will generally only allow a pump system with a single entity as system operator such as a governmental body

SOLUTIONS  Do nothing  Alter design criteria for new projects  Provide incentives for upgrades to existing properties

 Fix only items that are created by needs of City and not rest of watershed  The City’s DRGR, as many have stated, is small relative to the Lee County portion and it is at the downstream end SOLUTIONS

 LID – Rain Gardens  Filter Marshes  Pervious Pavement (+/-) SOLUTIONS

 Spring Creek – Challenge of 298 District – Interstate openings  Rosemary Canal SOLUTIONS
