Minimizing Risks of Maritime Oil Transport by Holistic Safety and Security Strategies (MIMIC) Contribution of Aalto University Kick-off meeting, September 5 th and 6 th 2011 Helsinki Arsham Mazaheri

Aalto Contribution Direct responsibilities in WP2.2, WP2.4, and WP4.1 Shared responsibilities in WP2.3, WP4.3, WP4.4,WP5.2, WP5.3, and WP5.4 (WP3?)

Aalto Contribution in WP2 Task 2 (MS6, Jan-Apr 2013): Ship Particulars 1.Technical and operational specification of ships navigating in the studied area will be gathered. (!year!) 2.They will be analyzed taking into account the relevancy on safety of marine traffic. 3.A database will be prepared based on the analyzed data. (!format!) 4.Prediction (extrapolation) of the future of the fleet in the studied area. (!2020 or 2030!)

Aalto Contribution in WP2 (Cont.) Task 4 (MS7, May-Aug 2013): Enhanced AIS interface development 1.AIS data of ship traffic in the studied area will be gathered, filtered and integrated into a route-based database. (!year!) 2.This database will be linked to the database provided in WP 2.2

Task 1: Future accident scenarios and their probabilities and consequences (Aalto & TUT) Task 2: Assessment of overall impacts on the ecosystem (UH, SMHI, UTARTU) Task 3: Development of operational interactive decision support application SmartResponse Web (UTARTU, SMHI, UH, Aalto, TUT) Task 4: Assessment of the overall safety management in society (UH, Aalto, CMS) WORK PACKAG 4 Assessment of Environmental and Economic Risks by the Integrative Model

Aalto Contribution in WP4 Task 1 (MS 4, May-Aug 2012): Grounding Model –Most important affecting factors will be investigated using the available results and literature. –The desired outputs for the consequence model will be defined. –A BN will be initialized using the available factors and desired outputs. –The probabilities for some of the events will be assigned. –The initial BN will be ready for further tests and development.

Aalto Contribution in WP4 (Cont.) Task 1 (MS 8, Sep-Dec 2013): Grounding Model –The initial BN will be developed and verified using expert workshops and questionnaires. –The developed network will be analyzed using sensitivity analyzing techniques. –The assigned probabilities will be rechecked and new probabilities will be assigned to the new added events. –The network will be finalized as a gadget for grounding simulation.
