 *Distinguished Achievement Program – 26 Credits  *Recommended Program – 26 Credits  Minimum Program – 22 Credits *HB3826 states that students are eligible for admission to any 4-year state university only if they have completed the Recommended or Distinguished Achievement diploma program.

College Readiness: Many colleges and universities minimally require the RHSP for admission. In addition, students ranked in the top 10% of their graduating class from an accredited Texas public high school are eligible for automatic admission to most Texas public universities if they have completed the RHSP or the DAP. Recognition: The RHSP seal will be affixed to the Academic Achievement Record (transcript). Test Results: Research suggests that students who take the additional English, math, social studies, and science courses make higher scores on the SAT or ACT college entrance exams. The RHSP requires four credits in each of these core courses.

Before a student is permitted to pursue the Minimum High School program, a school district must provide written notice to the student’s parents or guardian explaining the benefits of the Recommended High School Program. Before a student is permitted to take courses under the MHSP, the student, the student’s parent or guardian, and a school counselor or school administrator must agree that the student should be permitted to take courses under the MHSP, and the student must meet at least one of the following conditions: Be at least 16 years of age Have completed two credits required for graduation in each subject of the foundation curriculum under the Texas Education Code Have failed to be promoted to Grade 10 one or more times as determined by the school district.  A student whose cumulative score requirement for the EOC exams do not meet the State standards may be graduated under the MHSP.

Clyde CISD Proposed Policies and Practice

o STAAR replaces TAKS beginning in March o Beginning with th grade students must take the End of Course (EOC) tests for the courses in which they are enrolled. o Continues with incoming 9 th grade

o Students must pass the courses required by the 4x4 and their graduation programs – Minimum, Recommended or Distinguished o Students currently in grades 11 and 12 will continue to take the TAKS tests.

Compared to TAKS, STAAR has:  More tests  Increased difficulty, rigor and complexity  4-hour time limit  Cumulative scoring  Scores count as part of final semester grades and affect GPA and class rank

Subject to TEA changes The EOC score will be used to determine students GPA and will affect their class rank. Credit will be awarded in courses where an EOC test is given based ONLY on the final grade.

The scores from all three tests in the same core subject area are added together to get the cumulative score.

In order to meet the cumulative score requirement across a core subject area, a students score must be equal to the passing score (satisfactory performance score) multiplied by three.

Level III: Advanced Academic Performance Level II: Satisfactory Academic Performance Level I: Unsatisfactory Academic Performance The scores for all 3 levels have not yet been determined by TEA.

 Recommended Graduation Program (Default program for all CCISD students; required by all 4-year colleges in Texas) Must take all 12 (15) EOC tests. Must meet cumulative score requirement in each subject area. Must achieve Level II Satisfactory Academic Performance on the Algebra II and English III EOC tests

 Distinguished Achievement Program Must take all 12 (15) EOC tests. Must meet the cumulative score requirement in each of the four subject areas. Must achieve Level III: Advanced Academic Performance on the Algebra II and English III EOC tests

 Minimum Graduation Program Must take corresponding EOC tests for completed EOC course. Must meet the cumulative score requirement in each of the four core subject areas.

o Retake tests will be administered three times a year: o End of Fall semester o End of Spring semester o Summer o A student must retake an EOC test that does not meet the minimum score. o A student may retake an EOC test as many times as he/she chooses.

A student may retake an EOC test as many times as he/she wants to raise their cumulative score.

In EOC courses in junior high and high school, credit will be awarded based on the final grade. 42.5% of grade will include: 3 six week grades from 1st semester Semester exam from 1st semester 42.5% of grade will include: 3 six weeks grades from 2 nd semester 2 nd Semester exam has not be determined 15% of grade will be the EOC exam

Subject to TEA changes English I, English II, and English III have both a reading test and a writing test that are combined to make the 15% EOC test grade.

Clyde CISD conversion scores will be:  Advanced Academic Performance = 100  Satisfactory Academic Performance = 85  Minimum Score = 75  Unsatisfactory Academic Performance = 65

GPA Calculation Clyde High School will continue to use the enhanced GPA system. Maximum grades: AP Course = 110 Dual Credit Course = 108 Pre-AP Course = 105

Junior High students are required to take the EOC for the course in which they are enrolled. The EOC score will count for 15% of the final grade. In the future junior high students MAY have to take both the EOC and the appropriate grade level STAAR test to meet federal accountability requirements.

 Student transfers includes students who have transferred to Clyde CISD from:  Home schools  Out-of-district schools  Out-of-state schools  Out-of-country schools  Student transfers must take EOC tests for the courses in which they are enrolled and must meet the cumulative score requirement for each core subject area.

 Non-traditional students include:  Dual Credit  Advanced Placement  Correspondence Courses  Summer School  Online (Including Credit Recovery)  Credit by Exam  Students must take EOC tests for the courses in which they are enrolled and meet the cumulative score requirement for each core subject area.

Colleges award credit by the semester. Articulation agreements may require changes that will support the changes in grading policy.

In order to receive credit for a class, a student must be in attendance 90% of the days the class is offered. That means a student may not miss more than 18 days per course, or 9 days per semester course. A student missing more than 10 minutes of a class will be counted absent. Attendance counts for EVERY class. Please make every effort to attend school. If a student must be out, please bring a note. Also, the day of the absence a parent/guardian needs to call the school.

Stay informed about EOC practices and changes. Learn the grading policies and know your grades. Commit to making the highest 6 weeks grade possible. Attend class every day.
