Promoting Positive Student Behaviour is supported by a caring and safe learning environment requires access to opportunities and support for stimulating the student’s growth, development and learning
Interventions and Supports When inappropriate behaviour occurs school personnel will use a range of interventions, supports and consequences These will be developmentally appropriate and include learning opportunities for reinforcing positive behaviour while helping students to make good choices

Supporting Student Behaviour Inappropriate student behaviour is for the most part addressed by the Classroom Teacher using classroom management strategies The next step is consultation with the school team including the Special Education Resource Teacher More complex situations may require the assistance of central Special Education Services working in cooperation with school personnel.
Strategies to Address Inappropriate Behaviour A problem-solving approach is taken to look at the situation Observation, assessment and collecting data Development of a positive behaviour plan Teaching of new skills Development of a safety plan if necessary Refinement of learning objectives on the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP)
A Team Approach Parents/Guardians involvement and collaboration is a key factor Outside agencies may be involved as well with parental consent The focus will always be on the student’s access to opportunities and support for stimulating their growth, development and learning
