So What is an SAE Anyway?

Supervised Agricultural Experience Cognitive and hands on learning experiences where students learn, practice, expand, and enhance the agricultural and natural resources skills learned in the classroom or laboratory. These experiences can take place during school hours, after school hours, in the school laboratory, at an agribusiness site or on a farm.

Supervised Agricultural Experience They can be grouped or individual activities. Students can include work for wages as well as volunteer and mentor activities. As part of these experiences students will keep personal and financial records. The agriscience teacher will oversee and manage these experiences.

So why should I encourage SAEs in my classroom? To provide students with: –Real world experiences –Opportunities for skill development –Opportunities to explore agricultural careers –Motivation to learn –Academic integration / reinforce classroom ideas and concepts

SAEs are the bridge between school and career!!
