BABY CHICKS HANDLING & CARING

1.Place one hand gently on top of the chick, and the other under its rear end and feet. Pick your chick up carefully with a scooping motion. Most birds have hollow bones that enable them to become airborne easily, so take care not to squeeze your chick and cause damage to its fragile bone structure. 2. Take your chick out of areas where food is prepared or eaten. Chicks can pass along salmonella bacteria and a number of other avian diseases, so handle them only when you are away from the kitchen. 3. Handle your chick in warm rooms or areas where they will not catch a chill. Chicks need to be housed at 90 degrees for their first week of life, so taking them into cooler areas for a long period could cause them stress or illness.
