TYPES OF SENTENCES

Though he worked hard, he failed in the examination. (Complex) hard , he failed in the examination. (Simple) In spite of his work He worked hard but he failed in the examination. (Compound)

In spite of her illness, she continued the journey. (Simple) Though she was ill, she continued the journey. (Complex) She was ill yet she continued the journey. (Compound)

He was young yet he became the president. (Compound) Though he was young, he became the president. (Complex) In spite of his youthfulness, he became the president. (Simple)

In spite of darkness, they walked along the sea shore. (Simple) Though it was dark, they walked along the sea shore. (complex) It was dark yet they walked along the sea shore. (compound)

Though there was strong wind, the ship sailed into the sea. (complex) In spite of strong wind, the ship sailed into the sea. (simple) There was strong wind yet the ship sailed into the sea. (compound)
