What does the PTA do? Fundraisers Classroom Technology – New Classroom Computers for 1 grade level – 32 Acti-Votes for Upper Grades – 10 Activ Slates for Promethean Boards – 10 iPads and a cart – 10 Laptop computers Yearbook Social Events- Fall Social, Carnival, Health Rocks Cultural Arts Performances Teacher Grants Teacher Appreciation Health and Wellness Committee Book Fair- Story Book Night, Donuts for Dads Field Day Funding

Spring Carnival Committee Positions Tickets Food Games Sweet Shop Punch Card Activities Raffle Baskets Volunteers Prizes Advertising

Ticket Committee Create flyers to send home in Tuesday folders Create and print tickets Help with stuffing the tickets into family bags

Food Committee Arrange for Food Trucks to attend the carnival Organize and communicate with the Food Trucks prior to the event and day of the event

Games Go through the games making any needed additions or changes Purchase any necessary items for the games Set up the games the day of the carnival Manage the Games volunteers the day of the carnival

Sweet Shop Purchase items to sell at the Sweet Shop Organize the items the day of the carnival Manage the Sweet Shop volunteers the day of the carnival

Punch Card Activities Take an inventory of what materials are left from last year Order materials for this year’s Punch Card Activities Arrange to have any balloon artists, face painters, etc Set up the Punch Card Activities Manage the Punch Card Activity volunteers the day of the carnival

Raffle Baskets Create a sign up sheet for classrooms to choose a Raffle Basket theme Room Parents asking them to collect items for their classrooms Set Baskets up in the cafeteria the day of the carnival

Volunteers Create a Sign Up Genius form for volunteers Room Parents asking for parent volunteers Cary Teen Council, Middle Schools, and High Schools asking for volunteers Set up a Volunteer booth the day of the carnival. Sign volunteers in and out.

Prizes Order prizes for the carnival games Make sure the games stay stocked with prizes through out the carnival

PTA Board Positions President Vice President Treasurer Secretary Communications Ways and Means Hospitality

President Attend and run monthly board meetings Attend and help with PTA functions Write monthly Panther Press Monitor and help with committees Communicate with the Principal, PTA Board, Staff Members and Parents Purchase First Day gifts for staff and students

Vice President Attend monthly board meetings Attend and help with PTA functions Serve as President if the President is unavailable Supervise and Help with the following committees – Cultural Arts Committee – Health and Wellness Committee – Mills Park Maniacs – Reflections – Odyssey of the Mind

Treasurer Attend monthly board meetings Attend and help with PTA functions With the President, create the yearly budget Manage the funds of the PTA – Deposit funds – Keep an account of all funds received and funds disbursed – Write checks on behalf of the PTA

Secretary Attend monthly board meetings Attend and help with PTA functions Record and distribute the Meeting Minutes Coordinate and run a Membership Drive in the Fall to recruit PTA members Turn in membership list to the NC PTA Create a School Directory

Communications Attend monthly board meetings Attend and help with PTA functions Update the PTA website as needed Send out eblasts to PTA members Supervise and Help with the following committees – Room Parent Coordinator – Copy Team – Yearbook – PTA Bulletin Board

Ways and Means Attend monthly board meetings Attend and help with PTA functions Supervise and Help with the following committees – School Store – Spirit Wear – Book Fair – Spirit Nights – Box Tops – Carnival – Fall Fund Raiser – Spring Art Fundraiser

Hospitality Attend monthly board meetings Attend and help with PTA functions Supervise and Help with the following committees – Breakfast for Teachers- 4 times a year – Fall Social – Teacher Birthdays – Staff Appreciation Week
