Computer Network Management Course objective  To make acquainted the graduate students with fundamentals of network management concept, architectures, protocols and related research topics. Prerequisites Computer Networks, Course description This course provides an introduction to both theoretical and practical aspects of computer networks and systems management including architectures, protocols, standards and also current related research topics. The students will have the chance to work with network management tools and applications and also be familiar with current research efforts on network and system management.

Computer Network Management Textbook: Network Management: Principles and Practice, by Mani Subramanian. Reading, MA: Addison-Wesley, 2000. Additional Reference Book Network Management Fundamentals, by Alexander Clemm, Cisco press, 2006. SNMP, SNMPv2, SNMPv3 and RMON1 and 2:The Practical Guide to Network Management Standards” by William Stallings, 3rd edition, Addison Wesley. Principles of Computer Systems and Network Management, by Dinesh Chandra Verma, Springer, 2009. For networking overview following book is recommended. Computer Networking: A Top-Down Approach, Featuring the Internet(4th Edition), by James Kurose and Keith Ross, Addison-Wesley Pub Co, 2008.

Computer Network Management Grading There will be Homework, Quizzes, Project, Mid-Term and Final Exams. The grade will be determined by: Homework: 10% Quiz: 10% Projects: 20% Mid-Term Exam: 30% Final Exam: 30% Term research project: Each group of students (2 people groups) will work on a project. The topics of project will be prepared after midterm exam. You should prepare a short proposal and submit it during a week. Each group is required to have a presentation of their work in class.
