DUAL ENROLLMENT

What is dual enrollment? 0 High School & College Credit for the same class 0 At the High School 0 On the College Campus

Why dual enrollment? 0 Challenging college-level courses 0 Head start 0 Save money

Dual enrollment grant 0 Up to $600 per semester (some restrictions apply) 0 Pellissippi State currently adds additional funds to offset fees 0 You pay only ~ $39 per semester (for one 3 hour class) 0 Plus books 0 Eligibility Requirements? 0 Junior or Senior high school GPA (2.0 career/tech. courses) 0 19’s on ACT (or PLAN if you are a junior) – 13’s for Career Tech

Dual enrollment grant (cont.) college GPA to maintain grant 0 Must select Pellissippi State as your college 0 Must re-apply each semester 0 USER NAME, PASSWORD, SECURITY QUESTIONS!!!!! 0 Deadlines: 0 Fall – September 15th [JULY] 0 Spring – February 1st [DECEMBER] 0 Summer – May 1st [EARLY APRIL]

Payment 0 Once you are registered for a class, you owe a balance. 0 The deadline by which that balance must be paid is listed on the website and in the Enrollment Guide. 0 If your balance is not paid in full by that date, you will be dropped from your classes. 0 In order to prevent your schedule from being dropped, you should adhere to the deadlines recommended on the previous slide (NOT the deadlines on the TSAC web site).

Payment (cont.) 0 If your Dual Enrollment Grant is not posted to your account by the deadline, you must pay for your classes out of pocket. You will be reimbursed once your grant posts to your account. This could take several weeks.

The steps 0 1. Guidance Counselor 0 2. Application 0 3. ACT Scores 0 4. Transcript 0 5. Hepatitis B Form 0 6. Grant Application 0 7. Register for classes 0 At the high school 0 At Pellissippi State

Am I eligible? 0 Support of school guidance counselor and/or principal GPA 0 19 ACT Math/19 ACT Reading (for classes involving math skills) 0 18 ACT English/19 ACT Reading (all classes) 0 Career/Technical Classes GPA 0 13’s on ACT sub-sections

Am I a good fit? 0 Are you mature? 0 Are you responsible? 0 Do you take initiative? 0 Are you a good student? 0 Are you ready to be a college student?

Things to be aware of 0 Dual enrollment students are treated the same as any other college student and are expected to adhere to all college rules – including the college calendar. 0 Dual enrollment courses become a part of the student’s permanent college transcript. 0 College professors will afford you a tremendous amount of “FREEDOM TO FAIL.” Don’t expect handholding. 0 College professors CANNOT speak with parents about student attendance, grades, etc. unless the student signs a waver form.
