“With the organizationwide visibility that Cisco EnergyWise provides, we anticipate potential annual reduced energy savings of 15 to 20 percent conservatively across our portfolio of commercial office buildings. This could equate to energy savings of 19 to 33 cents a square foot, which over the course of a year could be thousands of dollars in energy related savings,” said Jeff Ton, vice president of IT for Lauth Property Group Service Birmingham is Birmingham City Councils joint venture with Capita Business Services. By providing world-class information and communications technology (ICT) systems, Service Birmingham is transforming the way the Council operates, by improving services, cutting costs and increasing job satisfaction. Investment in ICT also forms the bedrock of the Councils transformation programme, which aims to deliver cost savings of £1billion over 10 years. This would equate to around £47 for every member of Brunel’s staff. Equivalent figures for a typical Further Education (FE) college – equipped with 300 IP phones, 30 wireless access points, 1,646 PCs, 228 printers and 54 servers – were £1,228 and £23,450 respectively. Case Study: Cut Energy Usage by 25% in 18 Months Google is widely recognized as the world’s largest search engine, providing an easy-to-use free service that can return relevant search results in a fraction of a second. Google owns and operates a vast number of data centers and corporate real estate to meet its massive IT needs. One of Google’ objectives as part of it’s Corporate Social Responsibility is to be energy efficient and create a healthy and innovative environment where its employees can be productive. As part of this initiative, Google has focused on reducing their energy consumption and overall carbon footprint, improving energy efficiency, utilizing renewable power, and invest- ing in carbon offset projects. Google has connected more than forty buildings, which required the networking of numerous dispa- rate building controls systems, metering and sub- metering systems, Lighting Controls, UPS systems, Solar PV systems, Fuel Cells, power generators, irrigation systems, and weather stations that com- municate under different protocols/ Developed several custom facility dashboards including for e.g., Enterprise Energy Management (EEM), Automated Demand Response (ADR), Distributed Generation (DR), Automated Fault Detection and Diagnostics (AFDD) all with real-time data content and hyperlinks to all of the integrated building systemsSummary screens were built, which allow their facility manager to manage how much energy is being produced using real-time data Orchestrator – upravljanje potrošnjom električne energije u poslovnom okruženju

NetApp, for one, also uses Cisco's system to manage its demand response program, in which utility Pacific Gas & Electric pays it to promise to cut power during peak demand times, he said. That lets the storage and services giant cut about 1 megawatt of power use in 20 minutes or so, De Beer said. NetApp (NASDAQ: NTAP) creates innovative storage and data management solutions that help their customers reduce costs, maximize storage efficiency, and improve availability in virtual environments. NetApp saw an opportunity to significantly reduce energy consumption at its Sunnyvale, California headquarters, which has 1.2 million square feet of space in 10 buildings. By adding the Cisco Network Building Mediator, NetApp is able to collect data from multiple building systems, apply business rules, and to participate in the local gas company's demand-response events. In conjunction with other systems, Cisco Mediator helped NetApp reduce the energy consumption in its Sunnyvale location by 18 million kilowatt hours in 18 months. The demand-response payments from the utility funded the Cisco Network Building Mediator and other technologies. Data storage provider Net App has been piloting the service, along with PG&E, a major California utility, for the last year. PG&E sends Net App a pricing signal when it's close to meeting peak demand. Using the protocols set within Network Building Mediator, Net App can shed 1.1 megawatts of load in 20 minutes, according to Amberkar. According to Amberkar, Net App saved over $2 million in its first year of deploying Network Building Mediator, and recovered the cost of implementation within the first four months. "Not only can they shed it, and have policies in place to shed it, but they can also monitor their data center to make sure things aren't getting too warm...and it's all automated," he said.NetApp, for one, also uses Cisco's system to manage its demand response program, in which utility Pacific Gas & Electric pays it to promise to cut power during peak demand times, he said. Achuthan Nair, vice president and business head, Wipro Technologies "Cisco Network Building Mediator technology has an open approach in a pre- dominantly multi protocol and proprietary area. We have been able to innovatively leverage it to enable management of non-IP systems, thus bringing the rigor of IT service management to non-IT equipment. This brings tremendous value to our customers by lowering their energy consumption and reducing the service costs." Orchestrator – upravljanje potrošnjom električne energije u poslovnom okruženju
