Options will depend on the institutions and Networks in local areas Staying in education at the 6 th form in your school going to a 6 th form at another school going to a 6 th form College Going to work apply to a training provider apply for an Apprenticeship apply for a job without training Going to a College of Further Education

5 What should Ilan do? Ilan wants to be a carpenter. For work experience, Ilan worked with a large construction company and got a good report. Ilan is working hard at school and is aiming to get 4/5 GCSEs grades A-C including English & Maths. What are Ilan’s options? a) Apply for a carpentry apprenticeship b) Apply to college/ sixth form to do AS levels c) Apply to college to do a Carpentry course LMI fact - Starting salaries are between £13,500 and £16,000. Qualified joiners can earn between £17,000 and £23,000 a year

6 What should Alex do? Alex is keen to be a physiotherapist due to a love of all sports and enjoys the week spent gaining work experience as a leisure assistant. Alex is not enjoying school and isn’t considering University. Alex expects to get grades D/E at GCSE. What are Alex’s options? a) Apply for an apprenticeship as a physiotherapist b) Speak to a careers adviser about career ideas c) Apply for college/ sixth form to do a BTEC National in Sport LMI fact – Extremely competitive for university places. Robin is expected to achieve 4 Cs at GCSEs What are Robin’s options? a)Apply to college to do a vocational or public services course b) Apply to sixth form/ college to do AS levels c)Apply to do an emergency services related apprenticeship LMI fact - To be a policeman you must be a British citizen, a citizen of the Commonwealth, EU or other EEA country, or a foreign national with indefinite leave to remain in the UK
