The P-16 Initiative This is not just a state initiative This initiative involves all of USNY This initiative has three major categorical areas

P-16 Categorical Areas Students Systems Structures

P-16 Students Promote a sustainable early education program Improve academic outcomes for SWD Improve outcomes for ELL Improve high school attendance and graduation rate Report student persistence and college completion rates

P-16 Systems Raise the learning standards Strengthen instruction Create a state aid “foundation formula” Strengthen the capacity of the State Education Department Create a P-16 Data System

P-16 Structures Create a vision and leadership framework for an integrated education, health, and mental health collaboration Create P-16 Councils Focus regional education networks on joint P-16 strategies and actions

Your task… Divide into three groups One group will look at Students 2 One group will look at Students 4 One group will look at Systems 6 Each group will discuss and brainstorm ideas for determining how - we can assist SED in meeting these goals - we can identify what we need from SED to help us accomplish these goals

Assignments… 2 - Improve academic outcomes for SWD and ALL students 4 – Improve high school attendance and graduation rates 6 – Raise, align, assess curriculum standards and improve instruction emphasizing transitions
