2 13/14 – the Year of the Big Change Funding per student Study programmes Raising Participation Age

 16 yo participation rose from 91% to 94%  Students on full-time programmes increased by 35% - 85% of students are now in the full-time band  Students on substantial L3 VQs increased by 11%  Students on maths GCSE increased by 36% and English GCSE by 53%  Students on stepping stone qualifications increased for maths by 11% and English by 3% Study Programmes – early 13/14 data

16-19 Participation

 No change to funding methodology  Basic rate £4000 for 16/17s  Rate reduced for 18 yos to £3300  £45m funding for free meals for disadvantaged students  English and Maths required for new students without a C at GCSE 5 14/15

 75% report increase in students requiring E&M  40% report more students than expected  Very few turning students away  Logistics for large urban/BME colleges  Staffing and delivery quality biggest overall concerns 6 English and Maths 14/15

2016/17 Large Programmes  10% and 20% uplift to the base rate where the student passes 4 or 5 A levels respectively at grade B  20% uplift to the base rate for the full level 3 International Baccalaureate where the student achieves 28 points  10% uplift to the base rate for Technical Baccalaureate programmes that are the equivalent of four A levels in size, and 20% for those that are the size of the full level 3 International Baccalaureate, where the student passes all the qualifications  confirm how these will be calculated and paid in December  specialist land-based provision programme weighting increased to 1.75 from 1.6

 Spending Review 2015 will determine quantum of funding and planning horizon /17 and beyond
