O CTOBER 16, 2014 Homework: Discovery Learning Center Choice 1 due tomorrow- Finish periodic tables- if you have not already- Write this down- Do Now: Update T.O.C. pg Distant Relatives- Valence Electrons. Take out Family Summaries and Colored Periodic Tables On pg. 23 in your binder: Write a list of distant family members (Who do not live with you). Write their first Names and their relationship to you- Example: Aunt, Uncle, Cousin, Grandparents, parents, etc…

C HECK YOUR TABLE …

V ALENCE E LECTRONS — DISTANT FAMILY MEMBERS Where are Valence electrons located? Farthest away from the nucleus on the outermost shell-- - just like Uncle Louie in Milwaukee!

s

The group number gives the number of valence electrons from that element. Each element in that group has the same amount. Transition metals are not included- they react differently.. How many groups are there if we skip 3-12….?

Skip Transition Metals 3-12
