A Little History Queenswood School formerly Wakefield Preparatory School was founded in 1937 by Mr Browne. Since 2009 the school has been located on Queen Street in the small town of Morley near Leeds, UK.
The School Day The school day begins at 8:55 am for registration, but access to the school building is available from 8.30 am onwards for the convenience of working parents. Children arriving before 8:30 am will enter the Breakfast Club which opens at 8:00 am. There is a small charge for the Breakfast Club. Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday 8:55 am - 12:20 pm 1:30 pm - 3:45 pm (Reception 3:30)
Activities During the weekly swimming lessons at Morley Sports Centre, the children receive expert instruction by fully qualified coaches and have the opportunity to gain certificates and awards as they develop their skills. The school has a football team which has played several matches against other schools in the local area, and this helps them to develop their skills as well as bringing them into contact with other groups.
Queenswood School has a strong Performing Arts department that includes drama, spoken English and music. Children take part in assemblies and school productions with the opportunity to perform to wider external audiences. The Juniors are entered for examinations each year with the English Speaking Board. This helps to stimulate self-confidence and self-esteem - vital preparation for today's world.
Outdoor Play Queenswood School has an adventure play area as well as a hard surface playground. Pupils use these areas for both curricular and leisure activities.
