Middletown High School North The Roar of the Shore

Middletown High School North offers a diversified curriculum, a wide range of athletic and co-curricular activities and individualized student learning opportunities. The programs provide all students with a comprehensive education that promotes high levels of personal achievement and academic success.

The Middletown High School North Community is committed to developing each individual’s maximum potential for acquiring, using, and enjoying knowledge so that each may become a productive and caring member of our society. In order to provide quality programs and excellent facilities that support each student’s academic and social growth, our school is committed to a strong participatory partnership with our staff, our community, our students and their families.

We believe that…. 1. All students can learn and be productive members of the school community. 2. All members of the school community deserve to be treated with dignity and respect. 3. The promotion of positive interpersonal skills and acceptance of diverse groups of people are necessary for the personal and educational growth of each individual. 4. Critical thinking, problem solving, and decision-making are life skills that can be developed and enhanced across the curricula and through extra-curricular activities. 5. Students should be provided a safe and nurturing environment with the necessary resources to foster physical and mental well- being. 6. The school atmosphere must promote individuality, creativity, and originality; honesty and integrity are expected. 7. PSAT Test Results All sophomore and juniors take the PSAT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test) in October Many qualify to compete for National Merit Scholarships. Two of our North students were recognized as Commended Scholars and were part of the top 3% of the 1.5 million participants who took the PSAT.

SAT Test Results  75% of our junior and senior students take the SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test) or the ACT (American College Testing) for college admissions.  Our top performing students score well above the state average on the SATs and qualify for academic and merit based scholarships.  Standardized test data are analyzed by performance within the school and as compared to other schools within our District Factor Group (DFG) and across the state.  Middletown High School North was rated as a high performing school using the state criteria.

HSN Advanced Placement Courses Something for Everyone! 24 AP courses are available: English: Language and Composition (grade 11) and Literature and Composition (12) Social Studies: US History, Modern European History, Psychology, Economics (Micro/Macro), World History, Human Geography, and US Government and Politics Mathematics: Calculus AB, Calculus BS, Computer Science, and Probability/Statistics Science: Biology, Chemistry, Physics (Mechanical/Electrical), and Environmental Science World Language: French, Spanish and Italian Fine/Visual Arts: Music Theory and Studio Art

College Acceptances

North is the MANE Place to Be! Many Amazing New Experiences for All Students  We provide a broad range of course offerings and electives in every subject area.  All classrooms are equipped with resources and technology to enhance teaching and learning.  Students can earn college credits prior to graduation. Many earn scholarships and admissions to Division I colleges/universities.  There are Freshman, Junior Varsity and Varsity Team sports, many co-curricular activities and community initiatives to support good sportsmanship, leadership and citizenship.  An experienced faculty and motivated students create a dynamic educational environment for success.
