Are you ready for a Good News story? Really really ready? For really really good news?

Well here is our first Good news headline from the story today. “Friend dobs in Jesus”

Uh oh! Is that a good news story? No! I’d better just check the bible to make sure I got it really really right: Uh oh, look at these headlines!

“Friend Dobs in Jesus.”

Uh oh, look at these headlines! “Jesus in big trouble, but no proof”

“Friend says ‘I don’t know Jesus’”

“Jesus: beaten up by soldiers”

“Jesus must die, says crowd”

“Jesus Killed.”

Oh dear – these are all terribly sad things that happen to Jesus. And look they are all in the Bible. They are all really really true. But how can this be a really really Goodnews story? Can you see – in my Bible - that there’s one more part. The story isn’t finished. Let’s have a look...

“Jesus not dead anymore!” Wow! That’s really really amazing. And really really Good news. Jesus was no ordinary person, and so even though he died in a really really sad way, he couldn’t stay dead – he is really really powerful, he is really really God.

1 The Sabbath was over, and it was almost daybreak on Sunday when Mary Magdalene and the other Mary went to see the tomb. 2 Suddenly a strong earthquake struck, and the Lord's angel came down from heaven. He rolled away the stone and sat on it. 3 The angel looked as bright as lightning, and his clothes were white as snow. 4 The guards shook from fear and fell down, as though they were dead. 5 The angel said to the women, "Don't be afraid! I know you are looking for Jesus, who was nailed to a cross. 6 He isn't here! God has raised him to life, just as Jesus said he would. Come, see the place where his body was lying. 7 Now hurry! Tell his disciples that he has been raised to life and is on his way to Galilee. Go there, and you will see him. That is what I came to tell you." 8 The women were frightened and yet very happy, as they hurried from the tomb and ran to tell his disciples.

I wonder if you have heard the story of how Jesus came alive? It’s a simple story: it goes like this... Jesus was wrongly killed on a cross. But he came alive again.
