Matthew 16: When Jesus came into the region of Caesarea Philippi, He asked His disciples, saying, “Who do men say that I, the Son of Man, am?” 14 So they said, “Some say John the Baptist, some Elijah, and others Jeremiah or one of the prophets.” 15 He said to them, “But who do you say that I am?”

Who Is Jesus? The Christ (Messiah)

Who Is Jesus? Simon Peter answered and said, “You are the Christ, the Son of the living God.” Jesus answered and said to him, “Blessed are you, Simon Bar-Jonah, for flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father who is in heaven” (Matt. 16:16-17; cf. John 6:68-69). The woman said to Him, “I know that Messiah is coming” (who is called Christ ). “When He comes, He will tell us all things.” Jesus said to her, “I who speak to you am He” (John 4:25-26).

Who Is Jesus? He Is God In The Flesh

Who Is Jesus? So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “ God with us ” (Matt. 1:22-23; cf. Isa. 7:14). And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh …” (I Timothy 3:16).

Who Is Jesus? “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God …And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth” (John 1:1, 14). Therefore, when He came into the world, He said: “Sacrifice and offering You did not desire, but a body You have prepared for Me ” (Hebrews 10:5).

Who Is Jesus? He Is Creator Of All Things

Who Is Jesus? “He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made” (John 1:2-3). “For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. And He is before all things, and in Him all things consist” (Col. 1:16-17).

Who Is Jesus? He Is Worthy Of Worship

Who Is Jesus? “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him ” (Matt. 2:1-2, 11). Then he said, “Lord, I believe!” And he worshiped Him (John 9:38). “And they worshiped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy” (Luke 24:52). But when He again brings the firstborn into the world, He says: “Let all the angels of God worship Him ” (Hebrews 1:6).

Who Is Jesus? He Is The Lamb Of God

Who Is Jesus? The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him, and said, “Behold! The Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29). Again, the next day, John stood with two of his disciples. And looking at Jesus as He walked, he said, “Behold the Lamb of God !” (John 1:35-36).

Who Is Jesus? “He was oppressed and He was afflicted, yet He opened not His mouth; He was led as a lamb to the slaughter, and as a sheep before its shearers is silent, so He opened not His mouth” (Isaiah 53:7). “knowing that you were not redeemed with corruptible things…but with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot” (I Peter 1:18-19).

Who Is Jesus? He Is Sinless

Who Is Jesus? We were redeemed “with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot ” (I Peter 1:18-19). “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us…” (2 Corinthians 5:21). “For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin ” (Hebrews 4:15; cf. 7:26-28).

Who Is Jesus? He Is The Risen Savior

Who Is Jesus? “He is not here; for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Lord lay. And go quickly and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead, and indeed He is going before you into Galilee; there you will see Him. Behold, I have told you” (Matt. 27:6-7). But he said to them, “Do not be alarmed. You seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen! He is not here. See the place where they laid Him” (Mark 16:6).

Who Is Jesus? “But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then Christ is not risen. And if Christ is not risen, then our preaching is empty and your faith is also empty. Yes, and we are found false witnesses of God, because we have testified of God that He raised up Christ, whom He did not raise up--if in fact the dead do not rise. For if the dead do not rise, then Christ is not risen” (I Corinthians 15:13-16)

Who Is Jesus? “And if Christ is not risen, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins! Then also those who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished. If in this life only we have hope in Christ, we are of all men the most pitiable. But now Christ is risen from the dead, and has become the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep” (I Corinthians 15:17-20).

Who Is Jesus? “Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us” (Romans 8:34). “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His abundant mercy has begotten us again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead ” (I Peter 1:3).

Who Is Jesus? “Or do you not know that as many of us as were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into His death? Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. For if we have been united together in the likeness of His death, certainly we also shall be in the likeness of His resurrection ” (Rom. 6:3-6).

Who Is Jesus? “There is also an antitype which now saves us--baptism (not the removal of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God), through the resurrection of Jesus Christ, who has gone into heaven and is at the right hand of God, angels and authorities and powers having been made subject to Him” (I Peter 3:21-22).
