Book Making I like books. I’ve never seen the inside until now. I like the Printing press. First it’s stapled, taped and sewn. Then they glue a page in front and back of the cover.
Favorite Authors My favorite author is Cynthia Rylant, my second favorite is Kevin Henkes! My favorite illustrator is Sucie Stevenson! Cynthia Rylant and Sucie Stevenson make Henry and Mudge books!
Dr. Seuss He was born in Springfield, Massachusetts March Dr. Seuss’s parents thought he had too much imagination! Dr. Seuss was army captain Geisel! He started making books out of drawings. Dr. Seuss’s first book was And To Think That I Saw It On Mulberry Street, and his second book was The 500 Hats Of Bartholomew Cubbins. At age 78 he wrote a Broadway musical. He has written 46 books. My favorite movie by Dr. Seuss is How The Grinch Stole Christmas! He had a sister named Margaretta! The Cat In The Hat has 220 words in it. He wrote The Cat In The Hat for first grade readers. He got the name Seuss from his mom’s last name before she got married and Doctor from his own mind! He died when he was 87 years old. He died two years before I was born.
He was born on November 28, 1931 in Tientsin, China. He and his family moved to Hong Kong. “I came to the U.S when I was in College.” Ed said, “My favorite book I have illustrated was Mouse Match. Me and my daughter’s favorite book is Seven Blind Mice.” He got his ideas from nature, like the wolf in Lon Po Po or the mice in Seven Blind Mice. In his books he never ever does one picture on one page. He either does one picture across each or parts of pictures. Mrs. Lindsay KNOWS Ed Young really, really, really well! Mrs. Lindsay knows Ed Young because she worked at a bookstore in N.Y. He came to a meeting for people to get their books autographed. Ed won a Caldecot Medal for Lon Po Po.
