Candy, the Cow, and the Mystery Machine

One bright sunny day,Candy, the cow, was grazing on grass in the pasture. Candy had just moved to this farm and wasn’t sure about all the barns, fences, people and noises. While she was grazing, some of the other cows came to meet Candy and try to make her feel welcome. “What farm did you come from” Daisy asked? “Well a small one, where Farmer Fran knew all the animals and milked me everyday. She always had treats and such a sweet smile” Candy sadly replied. Once Candy had spent the rest of the day with her new friends she wasn’t so nervous about the new home.

Many people had been out in the pasture that day with these large scary things on wheels. They all started to move closer to the cows, and Candy became frightened. They were going to run her over! All the other cows turned around and started to walk toward the barn. Candy was so nervous she didn’t know what to do. The big things were headed right for her, so she ran and ran. Candy thought if she hid in the middle of all the other cows that big thing wouldn’t get her. Then she realized the barn they all were headed for was making scary, loud and very creepy sounds. Once again, Candy was scared.

As all the other cows were lining up to get pampered, Candy was trying to go back to the pasture. Daisy was right in front of Candy and tried to explain what was going to happen. Finally she talked her into going in the barn. Candy’s eyes grew large. She had never seen anything like this. There were hoses, pipes, steam and so much more. When it came her turn she slowly walked up to the machine. “SSHHHKKKTINKTINK” what a terrible sound it made at her. “Go on. It won’t hurt” said Daisy.

Candy tipped toed into the first gate. and She never could have guessed what happened next. It was bath time! The machine was washing, brushing and polishing her. Candy felt so pretty. Then another gate opened, and “SSSSUUUTTHHHUUUMMMPPPP!” Something else was going on. Candy thought that was it. The horrible hoses began to milk her. Then, you would never believe it, but the people that were chasing her in the pasture brought her hay to graze on while she was being milked, just like Farmer Fran.

After she was all finished, the last gate opened and led out to the pasture were Candy started. She was so excited that she had moved to this wonderful farm. All the new barns, fences, people and noises were not scary anymore. Candy was so happy at her new home, with her new friends and couldn’t wait until the next time she got pampered and milked.
