A: European Conquests: 1 – Hitler was able to seize Rhineland, Sudetenland, Austria & Czechoslovakia without the Allies declaring war on him. 2 – Nazi Germany later went on to conquer all of Europe except for England & Russia B: Appeasement: 1 – Gave into Hitler’s demands for territory in exchange for a promise of peace. C: Effects of World War I: 1 - English leaders were eager to avoid another bloody war like World War I. 2 – Both England & France were winners in WWI but suffered 2.5 million deaths & 6 million wounded. D: Isolationism: 1 – Many Americans felt that the USA shouldn’t involve itself in another foreign war. 2 – Until 1941, America’s policy was to mostly ‘mind its own business”. This allowed Hitler to build up his military forces.
