 BUILDING VIBRANT, RESILIENT & INCLUSIVE COMMUNITIES THROUGH THE PRACTISE OF EFFECTIVE AND TRANSFORMATIONAL LEADERSHIP  ENSURE EFFECTIVE & EFFICIENT DELIVERY OF BASIC SERVICES THROUGH LOCAL AUTHORITY  FACILITATING & SUPPORTING OF LOCAL AUTHORITIES  IMPROVE & STENGHTHEN CAPACITY OF PROVINICIAL COUNCILS, MUNICIPAL COUNCILS & THEIR ADMINISTRATION  SINCE 2007, VANUATU ADOPTED UN- HABITATE DEVELOPMENT LOCAL LEADERSHIP TRAINING THROUGH CLGF (CAPACITY BUILDING OF LA’S)

 LOCAL AUTHORITIES ARE ESTABLISHED THROUGH PARLIAMENT LEGISLATION, THE PROVINCIAL COUNCILS UNDER LOCAL GOVERNMENT ACT – CAP 230 & MUNICIPAL COUNCILS VIA MUNICIPAL ACT, CAP 126  VANUATU HAS 6 PROVINCES & 3 MUNICIPAL COUNCILS, WHO ARE OWNERS OF THE LOCAL AUTHORITY ASSOCIATION VANUATU (LAAV)  DLA IS THE LEAD AGENCY SPEARHEADING, CAPACITY BULDING PROGRAMS FOR PROVINCIAL, MUNICIPAL & LOCAL AUTHORRITIES

 SINCE 2007, VANUATU DECIDED TO ADOPT UN-HABITAT-DEVELOPENT LOCAL LEADERS TRAINING PACKAGE, THROUGH CLGF PACIFIC  SINCE 2007, DIFFERENT MODELS OF DELIVERING THE LEL TRAINING PROGRAMS WERE UNDERTAKEN  IN 2010, THE MODEL WAS ADOPTED AND LOCALISED TO THE CONTEXT OF VANUATU, THROUGH TRANSLATION OF TRAINING MODULES & USE OF QUALIFIED LOCAL TRAINING PROVIDERS.  IN APRIL 2014, CLGF UNDERTOOK AN EVALUATION OF THE LEL PROGRAM AIMED AT DETERMINING THE IMPACT OF THE PROGRAM

TANGIBLE RESULTS COUNCILORS UNDERSTAND THEIR ROLE MUCH BETTER WHICH RESULTED IN MORE IMPLEMENTATION OF PROJECTS IN THE COMMUNITIES RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN COUNCILLORS & STAFF ARE IMPROVED COUNCILORS ADAPTING WELL WITH NEW REFORMS TO IMPROVE EFFICIENCY IN THE MANAGEMENT & RUNNING OF COUNCIL AFFAIRS COMMUNITIES & THE GOVERNMENT DEPTS. ARE NOW WIDELY CONSULTED & ENGAGED IN DECISION MAKING REGARDING DEVELOPMENT IN THEIR AREAS

Continue…. TANGIBLE RESULTS IMPROVED & BETTER BY-LAWS BEING IMPLEMENTED VISITATION TO COMMUNITIES, IMPROVED WOMEN ARE GRATUALLY INVOLVED ON DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEES
