“E-GOV in Practice” June 15 – 25 Ramat Rachel Jerusalén Laboratory for e-Government Technology and Services Alejandra Ciurlizza Mellon

BACKGROUND OF PROJECT The Laboratory must facilities to carry out analyses and tests on technological solutions for government that are designed and implemented through initiatives in the private sector. Likewise, it must promote continuing training of technicians and professionals from a variety of institutions on tasks related to the Laboratory and to the development of IT. It includes the exchange of experiences and information within the field of IT between public/private domestic and foreign institutions that contribute to the development of technological research and innovation in electronic government. This initiative is part of the schema of the International Network of Laboratories fostered by the Fokus Fraunhofer Institute of Germany that originated in the eGOIA European Commission Project.

CONCYTEC participates in the INLET initiative The e-Government Laboratory will provide technical infrastructure and transfer of knowledge and skills to Public Administration and Private companies in developing technological solutions that help integrate data and inter-operational systems through the different levels of the State: local, regional, central. In order to benefit citizens and society, Governments have been increasingly using, with the introduction of Internet and other interactive digital systems, the achievements of continuing innovation in providing public services, new tools and systems for information and administrative relations, as well as the integration of their old legacy of systems and data bases in an exceptionally high level of cooperative effort. To meet such challenges, many public and private organizations in Europe and Latin America are using resources focused on the development and testing of e-Government solutions.

E-Gov Laboratory Objective Establishment of an e-government laboratory, that will take advantage of the synergistically efforts, researches and applications developed by the scientific community in terms of ICT that will become effective contributions to the plans of e-government. Objectives Provide a broad selection of electronic government solutions via Internet. Provide a platform for a closer relationship between companies and institutions that develop software, thereby contributing to and stimulating the diffusion of information, sharing of experiences, know- how and results for mutual benefit.

The Demonstration Centre First stage of the ICT Laboratory for e-Government project, which seeks to link institutions and, through them, help to identify the urgent technological needs and demands of national plans for e-government, share the results of the investigations, solutions and projects being carried out, and develop joint projects that contribute to the optimal use of human resources, technicians and research infrastructure, to achieve an effective synergy in scientific development and the exchange and transfer of technology involved in e- government. The project is to link technological research and development institutions, such as universities, public and private institutes, NGOs, and technology companies that are investigating technologies or developing projects that can be applied to electronic government solutions, in order to bring the solutions closer to the e-government needs and plans of different sectors in National, Regional and Municipal government.

Up to date the Demonstration Centre has 30 Software Solutions from 15 Institutions Beneficiaries of the Project Citizens in general, who will benefit from the effective application of electronic government. State entities, municipal governments and national and regional governments, which will have available a better knowledge and accessibility to the technology that is appropriate to their needs and plans. Scientific development and exchange and transfer of technology.
