Global Strategic Planning Meeting for Teacher Training on Human Rights Education Evaluation Results — Day 1

What was most useful? Networking/Meeting others (6) Small group work (3) SWOT activity (2) Research (1) Clear direction of conference (1) Student presentation (1) Introduction game (1)

What was less useful? Learning methodology needs to be more diverse not all lecture discussion. Share backs + Q+A can be done creatively to better ensure better use of time. Not sure of focus of conference. Introduction game was lengthy (2) Off topic discussion that seemed directed toward education in general (not teacher preparation).

Comments Too broad diversity of suggestions, opinions, comments – need more opportunities for conversation to make this less overwhelming. No opportunities to get connect w/other participants who are there about what they do. Get what the pax can offer It creates a great opportunity for collaboration + sharing May be we need more inputs about education today before planning to introduce H.R. teachers training especially in the diversity and hard realities of the third world. Adequate opportunity to share knowledge, experiences & network. The organizers seem extremely helpful & competent & knowledgeable. Much appreciated. Inclusion of students grounded all conversation in reality and the opportunities available. Reminded us of importance of our work.

Friday Expectations Not sure Recommendations. Networking of projects. Develop an integrated strategic plan. Agree on a set of strategies to carry forward HRE in all regions. Concrete plans for collaboration. Develop a short term and long term plan (proposals) for civic education. Concrete recommendations for pre-& in-service teacher training, and an action plan for this area. Realistic strategy for beginning process-with plans for monitoring + evaluating successes A concrete plan of action

Contributions Not sure Cooperation and openness Participate fully Through my involvement in promotion of HRE, both within the service providers and policy making levels. Ideas, experiences Push my agenda Make concrete suggestions of regional and planning sessions during the strategic planning meeting A human rights perspective Marketing/networking with teachers education community. Providing site for “model” program to field test ideas. Articles based on findings. Full participation in workshop, in putting into ideas + concrete action
