AR – Accelerated Reader Computerized test once a 5 day cycle – Your child will pick a library book for their AR book using the “5 Finger Rule”. This will not start until I feel the class is ready. I will let you know when AR starts. Not graded – some questions and answer choices are not read out loud See my teacher website for the “5 Finger Rule” for choosing “Just Right Books”

C.A.R.E Days from 10:00 – 10:30 The groups will be flexible depending on student needs. The start date is TBA.

Recess We will be going outside for recess everyday as long as the temperature is above 32 degrees and it is not raining or snowing. Please keep a hat and gloves in your child’s backpack once it turns cold. Scheduled at 12:50 – 1:10 daily

Allergy Policy The SVSD School Board adopted an allergy policy which modifies the way snacks, including birthday and holiday party snacks, are provided to students for safety reasons. Please refer to pages 20 in the CVE Student Handbook. This can be accessed on the CVE website.

Student Handbook Select a School – Click CVE Click Student Handbook

Dismissal Pick Up Form Send in a Dismissal Pick Up Form when you will be picking up your child at the end of the day. See sample in Student Handbook on page 12. Also, send a Tardy Arrival/Early Dismissal/Absentee Form when needed. These forms may have been sent to you with your child’s placement letters in the mail.

Classroom Supplies Needed Please see the First Grade Supplies List on my website You will need to send all the supplies from the top of the list. You will only need to send the following supplies from the bottom of the list for now: Clorox / Lysol wipes, one box of Kleenexes, and a bottle of hand sanitizer. I will let you know if and when I need the other supplies: paper bags, Ziplocs, paper plates, and pencil top erasers. Art Shirt / Old T-Shirt IF POSSIBLE Mead Primary Notebook with dotted middle line for homework– Many parents have found the notebook at Target in the past or have ordered a large quantity from Amazon and shared them. If you can’t find the Mead Primary Notebook, you can purchase a regular notebook. We will not use this notebook until the second grading period so you have time to shop.
